The highlights.
Hi! I’m Cynthia J. Tong and I’m a two-time Tony-nominated, Drama Desk Award-winning Asian American producer focused primarily on helping to bring vibrantly entertaining, artistically rigorous, and deeply meaningful works to the stage. I’ve worked on the producing teams of over 25 projects including musicals, plays, concerts, fundraisers, and one theatrical experience over the phone during quarantine, spanning from Broadway to off-Broadway to regionally in the United States to the U.K.. I have the incredible privilege of collaborating with some of the legends in our field as well as with many exciting up-and-coming artists and creators.
As a Producer at Tom Kirdahy Productions, I’m currently working on the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of Gypsy starring Audra McDonald and the upcoming new Broadway musical Just in Time starring Jonathan Groff as Bobby Darin, as well as several new plays & musicals in development including The Bedwetter, a new musical based on the memoir by comedian Sarah Silverman at Arena Stage in Washington D.C. from February 4 - March 16, 2025.
As one of the co-founders of The Industry Standard Group, I deeply believe in creating intentional access and equal opportunity to the producing and investment in theater.
In addition, I’m also a resume & cover letter editor, a Broadway League Fellow, a guest speaker & lecturer, and an adjunct professor at Montclair State University.
About Me
A bit more about me.
I’ve never met a board game I didn’t like. Graphic novels & Webtoons are my happy place (especially under a blanket). I love naps! I grew up Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angeles, but no one believes I have an ounce of “California” in me. I’m now based in NYC. My mom’s from Taiwan & dad’s from Hong Kong. Hard core oldest child. My artistic roots are in dance & movement. Prior to working in theater, I worked in retail, childcare, education, and pharmaceutical advertising. Proud alum of Wesleyan University (B.A., Sociology).
